The scout group will enter the hardcore section in the morning which will be followed by the media group after visiting the SS sites. The hardcore section is an unused timber track that has been abandoned 20 years ago. It is not too challenging yet but there are two main obstactcles to overcome. The first obstable is a section of landslide that must be cleared for the convoy to go through. The second obstable is a 10 feet V-gully to pass through either by building a temporary bridge or flattening the sides using manpower. Teamwork is expected from everyone in the main convoy to overcome both obstacles to reach the next campsite on before sunset. Team A shall set up campsite at Limpagok River. The distance to the campsite is a relatively short 4.5 km only.
Team B will not enter the hardcore section yet but instead they will be setting up campsite at Kampung Lingan Lama Recreation Pond 129, Papar. It is a fishing centre and everyone is welcomed to enjoy fishing there which means you can bring your own fishing rod!
31st October 2017 (Tuesday)
Day 3 The Uphill Battle
The greatest challenge in this years route begins for the leading vehicles in the main convoy. The scout group will be attempting to make the first climb to the top of the hill which is only about 2.5 km long. Due to the continuous heavy rain since the last two months, the terrains are rated extremely hardcore and challenging. The slippery condition means that all vehicles must winch all the way to the top of the hills.
There will be no SS in this route and Team A must focus to reach the next campsite which is located at the highest peak at an elevation of more than 300 meter abovethe sea level. The weather is expected to be cooler at night so participants are advised to pack sufficient warm clothing. Fresh water may be hard to find so brace yourself for limited cleaning and washing.
Finally, Team B is expected to start entering the hardcore section on Day 3 and they are expected to set up campsite near to Limpagok River.
1st November 2017 (Wednesday) 2nd November 2017 (Thursday)
Day 4 to Day 5 Surviving the Hills
The SS will resume at the hilltops on Day 4. Meanwhile, Team A will move forward along the hardcore section at higher elevation before the hill descend begins for the next two days. Some of the obstacles along this stretch are two landslides and two broken bridges which once again require teamwork from all the participants may have to stay two nights at the same campsite along this stretch of the hills. There will be no SS at this section of the route.
The scout and media groups are expected to reach the campsite at Kanpung Mandalipaus riverside at the end of Day 5 which will be a big relief for everyone due to the lack of fresh water the last two days.
The Medic Group will once again set up a camp at Kampung Mandlipau to perform free medical check ups for the villagers of Kampung Mandalipau during the day.
3rd November 2017 (Friday) 4th November 2017 (Saturday)
