Yamaha Updates Its WR Four-Strokes for 2007

At the company's annual dealer convention in Las Vegas this past Sunday and Monday, Yamaha announced that its popular WR off-road bikes would receive a host of updates for 2007 -- almost warranting the "all new" tag. The most noticeable change being that the WRs now feature an aluminum frame descended from those previously introduced on Yamaha's YZ motocross machines. Below you will find Yamaha's list of features and updates for the 2007 WR450 and WR250. California riders will no doubt appreciate the fact the new WRs are Green Sticker bikes for '07.
2007 WR250FKey Features:
A YZ-bred advanced aluminum framecarefully engineered from castings, forgings and extrusionsenhances handling while retaining legendary Yamaha feel and characteristics.
Now theres even more controllable power flowing from the high-revving five-titanium-valve engineand it starts with the push of a button.
Cool, digital enduro computer offers speedometer, clock, tripmeter, etc., in basic modeor pace management functions such as timer, distance-compensating tripmeter, average speed, etc., when switched to race mode.
California green sticker compliant.
Engine:
249cc liquid-cooled, DOHC four-stroke with 5 [color=blue]titanium valves[/color] delivers more low- and mid-range power than ever, with high over-rev capacity and crisp, linear throttle response.
Revised camshafts, carburetion and TPS tuning, new exhaust and ignition systems work together to produce a quick-revving engine with even more low- and mid-range power.
37mm Keihin FCR flat-slide carburetor with throttle position sensor (TPS) ensures ultra-precise fuel/air mixing and lightning-quick throttle response.
Revised transmission ratios in the five-speed gearbox-wider in 1st through 3rd, and closer in 4th and 5th.
Chassis/Suspension:
All-new YZ-inspired [color=blue]aluminum frame[/color] helps reduce weight while optimizing mass centralization. An extensively tested assembly of aluminum forgings, castings and extrusions. The new WR frame retains legendary Yamaha handling and response.
Removable aluminum rear subframe constructed of square-section tube for reduced weight.
Fully adjustable air/oil-separate 48mm fork tubes deliver precise, fade-free handling; fork protectors provide excellent tube protection.
Tapered swingarm adopts YZ-style linkage for controlled, compliant rear suspension action.
Revised axle and holders reduce weight in a critical area.
The Kayaba shock provides 12.0 inches of travel with adjusters for high- and low-speed compression damping, rebound and spring preloadand features a larger piggyback reservoir for excellent damping and fade resistance.
New, wave disc brake rotors front and rear reduce unsprung weight and provide excellent performance. Front and rear calipers with aluminum pistons deliver strong stopping power with progressive feel.
