Good morning folks, I have just joined this web site, it is awsome, can somebody please explain to me the pe meaning of the fishing lines, I live in Western Australia and have not done any GT fishing, I will try my first fishing for GT next week in Exmouth, I will be using 50lb Fireline with 100lb Penn 10x leader line on a custom made 7ft. live fibre rod and a Shimano Spheros 14000 reel. I have not heard about the Carpenter rods or the many fishing lines discussed on this site and it is very interesting to read about everybody's ideas from around the world.... Neville
Just to touch on a little more about PE lines. Japanese manufacturers actually rate their lines by diameter and not breaking strain. A rough guideline, as mentioned by Jon, is to multiply the numeric value by 10 (PE2=20lb/PE6=60lb). Do note that some lines have higher breaking strain than others- PE6=80lb/PE8=100lb
