Customer Question
what does the dtc p0545 mean on a 98 grand cherokee laredo with a 4.0L?

I got the code from one of the cheap pep boys scanners that only reads and erases codes. The definition that is displayed says "Exhaust gas temp. sensor circuit low (Bank 1)". I don't know what that means.
Expert's Answer
I've asked around and that first code is not possible and you would want to bring vehicle to a differnet parts store to retrive trouble code. As far as the other code you would want to replace with OEM sensor directly from dealership to avoil any complications. If the code still comes up you will need to do a resistance test between sensor and transmission control module. If there is high resistence you would want to make sure connections are clean and if so replace the wire harness. Also make sure you replaced correct sensor, it wouldnt be first time for a parts store to give out wrong sensor. Here is a picture location. Let me know if you have any questions and when you get the correct code for the first one you can reply to this answer anytime even after you hit accept and I can help. Thanks Again.

Q. I am getting a diagnostics error of: P1762 "GOV Pressure Sen Offset Volts Too Low Or High" I would like to repair myself if it will not be too difficult. Any thoughts?

A. To test this code accurately, you would need to have Chrysler connect their scan tool to it. With that, they can check the whole system.
The governor pressure sensor measures output pressure of the governor pressure solenoid valve. It is located in the governor body on the valve body transfer plate.
It is not very difficult to replace,

P1762: Governor Pressure Sensor Offset Improper Voltage
The pressure sensor can be seen after lowering the transmission pan. Before changing the sensor check the following. Check the downstream O2 sensor for correct voltage and operation. When the O2 sensor shorts to voltage it will feed back through the power train Control Module and bleed over into the governor pressure sensor circuit. If the voltage at the O2 sensor is ok, then with the ignition key on and engine off check the voltage at the governor pressure sensor circuit with a scan tool. That reading should be 0.45-0.7 volts. If the reading is higher check the reading of the transmission temperature sensor. If the transmission temperature sensor is reading correctly, and its ground is alright, you should replace the governor pressure sensor. The governor pressure sensor voltage should be checked with the key on and engine off and with the engine running in park. Use a scan tool or digital volt ohmmeter. If using a dvom measure the voltage on the light Green/Red wire at the pin 29 on the center connector at the Power train Control Module. That reading should be 0.45-0.7 volts. Verify the 5 volts reference on the Orange wire at the transmission 8-pin connector. Check the sensor ground at the Black/Light Blue wire at the transmission 8-pin connector. You can also verify a good sensor ground, by seeing if the transmission temperature sensor is reading accurately.
"When the O2 sensor shorts to voltage it will feed back through the power train Control Module and bleed over into the governor pressure sensor circuit."
ถ้า O2 แก้แล้วยังไม่หายให้เช็ค Temp sensor ในเกียร์ ใกล้ๆ Solenoid แล้วค่อยเช็ค sonenoid ต่อ
